How does modern technology affect today’s society? Does it have a positive or a negative effect?

I’m going to present to you the notion of Progress. The notion of progress is the idea that the world can be enhanced in terms of science, technology, rights and quality of life. Progress implies changes in the way of life, traditions and vision of world. We studied the notion of progress in the scientific field, with the artificial intelligence. But how does modern technology affect today’s society? Does it have a positive or a negative effect?

Intelligence is now more present than ever, it is everywhere around us. As the years go by, artificial intelligence is becoming more and more efficient. Indeed, Artificial Intelligence has recently been talked about via AlphaGo, an AI from Google that has managed to beat the "human" champion of the Go game. Note that this discipline requires an important level of strategy. Another highlight is that autonomous cars are no longer a contingency: they are already on our roads. Artificial intelligence comes in many forms. We can find, for example, the "all knowing machine" which aim to work alongside humans as in hospitals where robots take patients to the operating room. There are also "helpfull robots" that are programmed to recognize certain emotions (this kind of AI is not really developed) or "cleaning robots" which, as their name suggests, Says, takes care of cleaning your home. Nevertheless, another type of AI has appeared, robots resembling humans. Humans just reproduce the human envelope and not the thought
It’s important to question what would happen if technology were to succeed in generating this CEW and if it was indeed superior to humans on any form of cognitive task. One can also imagine that this AI would be able to perform complex reasoning at a high speed, to widen the gap with human intelligence. The result would be spectacular, and we would see the creation of breakthrough technologies that would help us eradicate poverty, eliminate any environmental risk or create universal and lasting peace. Beyond the science fiction scenarios, the creation of this "super intelligence" could well be the major turning point in the history of mankind.
Nevertheless, most researchers agree that it is unlikely that an AI, however developed, will be able to "feel" feelings such as love or hatred, it’s therefore unlikely that "killer robots" will appear in the future. When discussing the risks associated with AI drift, the experts in the question lean towards a plausible scenario: it is possible that an autonomous car may commit manslaughter in front of a dangerous situation, in the Highway for example.

Artificial intelligence then developed in a dazzling way and now occupies the major part of our daily life. With regard to its dangerousness, there is always a part of risk but that is not high enough to talk about a takeover of the robots. The AI thus has a positive aspect in our society.
