Listen to me, you, who claim that women have succeeded in establishing the gender equality, I shall oppose you. All around the world women are still inferior to man. Whether it’s in education, work, society…

Throughout the centuries many organizations and amendments were established. Some of them failed miserably and other had major success. As an example, The American Equal rights amendment was proposed to the United States constitution designed to guarantee equal rights for women. The ERA was originally written by Alice Paul and Crystal Eastman .In 1923, it was introduced in the congress for the first time. According to it “Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place”. But that amendment promised so many good for the nation but accomplished less, but it wasn’t the only one that failed others also didn’t achieve their goal.

In addition women in some countries are not educated they live under control of their fathers or husbands and are victims of abuse. To emphasize on the subject, we have to mention one of countries that has a major gender inequality, Saudi Arabia. There, a woman cannot open a bank account without her husband’s permission, also she must not go out without a chaperone which means a man who escorts her out of her house. Moreover, she cannot not drive a car nor compete freely in sports, they are discouraged from working jobs that would put them in contact with men. In one extreme case a teenager reported that she had been raped but because she was not out with a chaperone when it occurred, she was punished by the court. But this oppression does not only exist in Saudi Arabia first of all, 62 million girls are denied an education all over the world. Second of all, every year, an estimated 15 million girls under 18 are married worldwide without their saying in the matter. Also, 4 out of 5 victims of human trafficking are girls.

Moving on, I’m going to talk about the current gender pay gap. Illustrated by the national disgrace for Americans that women only earn 79 cents for every dollar a man earns. The gender pay gap is even worse for women of color.

To conclude, Women are not treated like man, they don’t have the

same rights so the world still have a long way to establish equality.
