Company’s energy saving measures

● You should resort to some power management options to reduce the environmental impact of your equipments on the planet.

● I recommend you set all the devices onto sleep mode when the employees have their lunch break. This way the computer will consume less energy. However, the devices will still be quick to boot for your employees when they want to start working again.

● At night you should make sure to unplug them all so they will consume no energy at all

● You should refrain from printing documents as much as possible. Nowadays all documents have a virtual format. They are faster to transfer, easier to retrieve when lost and definitely less polluting than paper.

● Lithium-ion batteries are relatively clever in that they can’t be overcharged, but it’s not good for the long-term health of your battery to leave your laptop always plugged in to the mains. Some manufacturers (including Sony and Lenovo) provide a utility which limits the battery from fully charging.

Batteries aren’t designed to last the lifetime of the laptop, and that’s why – if you check the small print on the warranty statement – you’ll probably find that the battery isn’t covered, or is guaranteed for a shorter period than the laptop.

● Mechanical hard drives, which are still common in laptops, require a fair amount of watts to spin their platters. A solid-state drive (aka SSD), on the other hand, uses less power as it has no moving parts.
