I speak about idée de progrés. First of all, I would like to give a definition of idée de progrés, this notion can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change.

I will present this notion by focusing on the theme of the evolution of tattoos.

In relation to the theme, my presentation will deal with this question, What evolutions can be identified in the art of tattooing?

To begin, I will talk about the art of tattooing around the world. Then I will explain the place of tattoo in our current societies. Finally, I will show that the advance of the news technology in the art of tattooing.

Human have used tattoos for a number of reasosn which serve as marks of status and ranks, symbols of religions and spiritual devotion, decoration for bravery, punishment, protection or as the marks of outcasts, slaves and convicts. The tattoo is an art which exists for a very long time and all around the world.

Firstly, a mummified human was found in the Alps on the border between Austria and Italy around 3300BC.

But tattoos are international, in New Zealand, Moko is more than tattoo. It illustrates the story of a person’s family and tribal affiliations in the Maori culture. However, tattoos were used to marks criminals in Japan and to marks slaves, sailors und jews(like Simone Veil) in Europe. Tattoos were also used by native amercians to show their belonging to the tribe, their status and their bravery in battles. Today, a lot of people are tattooed but her tattoos have or not a meaning.

Tattoos are a form of body modification where a design is made by inserting ink into the skin. The tattoo machine is not a recent invention, it dates of the 19th century but it still the same today. The machine is an electric instrument with sterilized needle, attached to a tube containing ink, the needle moves in and out into your skin. The ink is in the dermis, which is the second layer of skin. Although, it’s possible to remove the tattoo but it is expensive and complicated. Dermatologists use 3 main techniques surgery, abrasion and lasers. But tattoos are for the life and more and more people are tattooed. Today, people are tattooed to escape anonymity. Nevertheless, tattoos are not accepted in every jobs. For example, a waitress was dismissed because her tattoos arms were visible as her uniform was short-sleeved. People loved or hated her tattoos. Considering that, a lot of new technology exists around the tattoo.

As we move into the 21st century, tattoo culture, much like everything else, is being fused with technology. For example, it exists :

   - Sound-wave tattoos, tattoos you can hear

   - Duo-skin, interface, for controlling your computer, TV or smart device

   - Medical wearable, tattoos than can monitor you health

   - Disappearing tattoo ink

   - Bio-Inks, tattoos contain specific enzyme than can detect certain chemicals

   - 3D-printing Tattoos

To conclude, tattoos have become more popular in recent years and the people who get them are as diverse as the styles and designs they choose. Tattoos are considered body art and have largely spread all over the world. For example, Zombie Boy was famous for his tattoos and turned in lady Gaga's clip.
