Globalization

First of all, to begin this presentation, I would like to explaine in a few words the globalization. The globalization is the interconnectedness and the interdependence of the countries in the world. It doesn't existe since many years, but it began with the opening of boundaries and it was developed such as the internet.

Thus, it seems central to answer the following question : what are the different aspects of globalization.

Over a first phase, I will talk about the advantages of globalization and in a second phase the disadvantages of globalization.

First and foremost, globalization has advantages to people and countries.

- It allows countries to communicate amongst themselves. Actually, the boundaries are opened by the internet and communicate became really easy. This is a real knowledges source witch reinforce open-mindedness.

- Moreover, the underdeveloped countries are developing their economy like China or India. It helps them to get out of poverty. It created new jobs and new factories. So, their standards of living became better.

- Proponents of globalization said that this worldwide growth is good for the consumer too, because he has a larger choice of products. This is partly due to the fact that there are many trading between countries and many factories go offshore.

Nevertheless, globalization poses different problems.

- It mostly has benefited to multinational corporations. So, some local companies became bankrupt. The opponents of globalization explain that some cultures dominate, so the other loose their wealth.

- Afterwards, in the developing countries, the exploited workers earn starvation wages. They are not paid for all the overtime they do and suffer of free violence. Workers are mostly children or women and work in horrible conditions. They always do a tedious, exhausting, repetitive and boring work.

-  Finally, the consumer society takes more and more extent because of globalization. This can be explained by the fact that the advertising communication is worldwide.

To conclude, we can say that globalization is a controversial topic who have impacts to the cultures, the environment and the economy.

In my opinion, we should bear in mind that we can't forget human rights just for material possessions and that we will buy more local products.
