Nowadays, our society is more and more aware of the importance of ecological issues. Thus, it is only natural for companies around to world to adopt new ecologically friendly practices, such as the one required from wood companies in order to receive what is called an ecocertification. But some doubts were emitted involving American wood companies.

Americans are increasingly concerned about protecting environment, so this is only a matter of time before these companies comply with this certification. It is said that American people do not trust broadcasted advertising claims, having lost faith in their honesty. But this ecocertification is a worldwide qualification, and American people know that there’s a distinction between international advertisings and the national ones.

In order to earn ecocertification, wood companies have to spend more money to have their business examined, and therefore make up this loss in the prize of their goods, thus discouraging potential customers. But prize alone only determines the bought if the competitive products are much cheaper or much more expensive (about 5% of prize difference). Therefore, ecocertification won’t make companies lose money, but will make them gain more customers: the ecologists.

This study demonstrates that Americans ecologists are capable of reacting favorably to wood products eco-certified by an organization with an international reputation.

This is why the American lumber companies should pay attention to what is happening in the business of wood international level, because of foreign competition, as there is a good chance that many American consumers are heading products

To conclude, if American companies takes time to convince consumers, foreign companies will soon begin grow in the US market.
