Hypertension:

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a chronic condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is high which makes the heart put more effort into pumping blood in the vessels hereby weakening it and causing heart diseases.

Millions of people are diagnosed with hypertension which might lead to the death of the patient.

In Lebanon, hypertension has is becoming very common and thousands of people having it whether they know it or not: it can’t be detected because it doesn’t show symptoms. Possible early detection can decrease the dangers of hypertension by 50 percent.

A regular blood pressure rate varies from 70/50 to 100/70 for kids and reaches 140/90 for adults.

Anxiety, pressure and weight loss are not proofs of hypertension, weight gain however increases the danger which is present at all ages, not just in the 40s and 50s and above.

The cause of someone having high blood pressure is not known yet, but scientists proved that hypertension could be genetically inherited.

In addition, the level of high blood pressure varies between day and night. It is highest in the morning when waking up and lowest at night while asleep.

The rate of Hypertension will increase in young people in the future because of heavy consumption of caffeine, salt and fast food, and smoking.

Hypertension can’t be fully cured; it must be detected, prevented and treated by exercising, by following special diets, and by taking appropriate medication.
