Have you ever heard a smoker saying that anyway we will all end up dead one day or the other and we have to die of something? What most smokers seem to ignore is that they may suffer terribly before finally dying of their smoking. What if the price of a pack of cigarettes doubled its price? Do you think that they will still say the same thing? Most smokers know that smoking can kill, but do they really know the pain and duration of the agony that is waiting for them? The worst part about is that they are not only hurting themselves but they are also hurting the people who are surrounding them. People in the streets, metro and train stations, cafes and restaurants. Anyone close enough to them to breathe the smoke of their cigarettes.

Tobacco use is now the leading cause of preventable death throughout the world. “The Smoke from a cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals, including over 50 carcinogens.” The film archives. Smoking reduces life expectancy of smokers by 10 years, on average, compared to non-smokers. It is one of the major risk factors for many diseases. Nonsmokers exposed to secondhand smoke are at increased risk for the same health problems as smokers. Addiction is the loss of control of the consumption of a substance that we continue to absorb despite adverse health effects. Every cigarette smoked reinforces this addiction that eventually chain smokers "beginners" to tobacco. Dependence occurs rapidly after starting to smoke. The smoker has no longer the will to resist nicotine, and needs to maintain a constant level of nicotine. Smoking involves many actions carried out according to the habits of each smoker. Dependency occurs as soon as the amount of nicotine in the blood decreases. Once the nicotine level drops, the nicotine receptors need their stimulant. Nervousness, need to eat, anger, appear when the body does not absorb enough nicotine and its rate decreases. Smoking then becomes necessary to address the lack of nicotine receptors. The more we start smoking at an early age the more the risk of addiction is important.

The sooner you start the faster you become addicted to nicotine. Manufacturers have understood this and have for years engaged considerable efforts to attract these new customers. Cigarette smoking may be appealing because it symbolizes a transgression of the forbidden. Yet when a person start to smoke at an early age, it becomes more difficult to overcome or quit. The mood of smokers starts to depend on the dose of nicotine in their body. They began to believe that smoking a cigarette can dissipate their fears and make them relax. Like it is said in the book quit smoking by Allen Carr “you do not take pleasure in smoking even if you think otherwise, you think the cigarette keeps you occupied, accentuates the good times and the procrastinate the bad ones but that is wrong”. The danger in all this is that this person is changing people near to her into passive smokers.

Passive smoking is called the act of inhaling cigarette smoke unintentionally produced by one or more smokers located in the neighborhood of a non smoker. The dangers of passive smoking are less important than the risks by smoking, but symptoms are still seen in nonsmokers. Passive smoking is the most common cause of indoor air pollution and also the most dangerous. Exposure to cigarette smoke for long periods in places where we spend over 80% of his time has more adverse effects
