Excistenz is a science fiction body horror movie, set in the near future, it is centered around two characters, Allegra Geller, a superstar Game developer who is marked for death,  and a  marketing  trainee Ted Pikul.
The movie starts when a focus group that was trying out Existenz, a game designed by Allegra was interrupted by a terrorist attempting to murder her, she escaped with Ted Pikul, a fairly bad bodyguard and a marketing trainee to embark in a sordid adventure.
Since the beginning of the movie, one can feel the creepy and scary atmosphere, it starts out slowly, pulling us in this odd and pretty gross world, everything is bloody and organic, even the platform to jack in the game.
Throughout the film, the characters are confronted to multiple twists, they seem to know as much as the person watching the movie which is basically nothing, the movies gives you very little information and lets one think and speculate to figure out what’s happening, but it’s doomed since the movie is out to fool you, once the viewer thinks that he figured it out a twist of events changes everything and leaves you utterly fooled.

Like anyone who is watching the movie, you’re left wondering if it’s reality or not, even the characters ask themselves that question, “IS THIS REAL LIFE?” “DID I JUST KILL A REAL PERSON?”  The line between reality and fiction is so blurred that the characters use the “It wasn’t me, it was my character” to justify their carnal needs and their killing spree.
The ending raises more question than it answers, the movie ends with nobody knowing if it’s real life or not, it resembles Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” but with a scarier and more disturbing tone.

Like the virtual game the characters play, the film is weird, addictive and alive, one can say that the movie itself is a game, but instead of us playing with it, it plays with the viewer and fools him until the very last second.
