Adani

Introduction:

Adani Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It was founded by Gautam Adani in 1988 as a commodity trading company with the flagship company The Group's diversified activities include energy, resources, logistics, agri-food, real estate, financial services, defence and aerospace.

Adani is seeking to build the world's biggest new coal mine in central Queensland's Galilee Basin -- the Carmichael mine.

Adani's Carmichael coal mine has become notorious for its sheer scale, and for the damage it will cause to the Great Barrier Reef, to vast quantities of groundwater, to the world's climate, and to threatened species.

But the project's proponent is also fast becoming one of the most controversial companies in the world.

Adani has a documented history of corruption, bribery, and human rights abuses across the world. It's currently facing further criminal investigations for alleged involvement in multi-billion-dollar fraud in India.

Furthermore, this mining project is also planned to be built on the native lands of the Wangan and Jagalingou peoples, which is contrary to their native title rights.

Ethical question

Are Adani and the State Government ethically right or wrong in the Wangan and Jagalingou native title case?
