A) Immigration

First, few centuries ago, America was the place where a lot of immigrants came to find another life way better in this country and that for a long period. Moreover, we must notice that at that time, immigrants were not very well received and regarded by Americans who already lived there. So, that’s indeed a first argument to prove that this relationship with immigrants was already complex a long time before.

Besides, the last decades prove the “fear” of the Americans about the immigrants. That’s because of some events like the 11th September with the Twin Towers and some other terrorists attack even at the Pentagon. So, as I said, to a certain extent, Americans feared the immigrants because of these dramatics’ attacks as well as because of the war that occurred in the oriental countries as Iraq.

Lastly, the president in USA nowadays is doing an anti-immigrant politic, especially with the Mexicans that somehow, he hates those people. That’s why he decided to build a “Great Wall” on the South border between USA and Mexico to stop the Mexicans who want to come living there. In contrast, I have to say that the president Trump is a little bit crazy about that and he isn’t representing the opinions of the whole country about that topic.

Therefore, America has a very complex relationship with immigrants due to some periods and events which traumatized, in a certain way, the whole country for a very long time.

I would like to add my opinion in this. Indeed, since I was young, I always thought that this country is the most protected and even rude with immigrants mainly because of the reputation of the customs in the USA airports for the newcomers, like immigrants and even tourists.
