 LESSON: “Nice to meet you!”

Oral Communication

The students will learn how to introduce themselves and introduce others:

“What is your name?” “My name is…/ I am…”

“What is his/ her/ their name(s)?” “His/ her/ their name(s) is/ are…”

“Hi/ Hello”

“Nice to meet you!”

How are you?” I am fine, thank you, how are you?”

Vocabulary

I am, you are, he/ she is, we are, you are, they are, my/ your/ his/ her/ our/ their, name/ names

Drawing myself

The students will draw themselves and use their drawings to practice introductions and greetings.

The ball game

The students will take turns and throw a ball at another student, asking him/ her: “what is your name?” The questioned student will answer and throw the ball at someone else, with a question… and so on.

Song: How are you?

The students will practice the new words and expressions with a song.

Homework

Practice the new expressions and the new vocabulary.

LESSON: “The alphabet”

Oral Communication

Oral practice: greetings and introductions.

The students will learn the alphabet, as well as two words representing each letter.

Vocabulary

The alphabet/ The ABC’s, apple, ant, bee, ball, carrot, car, door, duck, egg, elephant, fish, flag, gift, glass, hammer, hat, ice cream, igloo, jelly, juice, kangaroo, key, leaf, lamp, monkey, mouse, nail, nose, octopus, orange, paint, popcorn, queen, question, radio, rat, snake, sun, train, tree, umbrella, unicorn, violin, violet, whale, worm, x-ray, xylophone, yellow, yoyo, zebra, zoo.

The alphabet song

The students will practice the alphabet with a song. After the song, they will take turns to spell their names.

Song: Colors

For this game we will need:

1die

1 pawn for each player

Rules: All players will begin on start, they will take turns to roll the die and advance the number of spaces indicated by the die, as their pawn stops on a letter, the player in turn will say the letter in English + a word starting with that letter. If the player does not know any of them, he/ she will go back the same number of spaces. If the player knows half the answer, he/ she will go back only half the number of spaces (in case of odd numbers, the teacher decides). The first player to reach the letter Z wins.

Homework

Practice the new expressions and the new vocabulary.

LESSON: “My family”

Oral Communication

Oral practice: greetings and introductions.

The students will learn new expressions related to introductions:

“What is your mother’s name?” “Her name is…”

“What is your father’s name?” “His name is…”

“Do you have any brothers and sisters?”

“I have…”

“Who do you live with?” “I live with…”

Vocabulary

Family members: parents, mother/ mom, father/ dad, brother, sister, cousin, aunt, uncle, grandparents, grandmother/ grandma, grandfather/ grandpa.

My family tree

The students will draw their family. For this activity, they may use pictures of their family members, drawings and even stickers with their relatives’ names.

Match game

The students will play with flash cards: some of the flash cards will have pictures of the different members of the family, and some others will have only the words on them. The students will match the picture flash cards with those of the words.

Who’s in the picture?

The students will take turns to identify the different family members in pictures.

Homework

Practice the new expressions and the new vocabulary.

LESSON: “Colors”

Oral Communication

Oral practice: greetings and introductions.

The students will learn new expressions using colors:

“as red as a beet root”

“I am blue”

“black and white”

“There is a blackout!”

“green with envy”

“I am green!

“I finished school with flying colors!”

Vocabulary

Colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, gray, black, white, dark/ intense, pale/ light, mate/ bright, rainbow.

My rainbow is correct!

The students will draw and color a rainbow. As they are coloring, the teacher will say the order of the different colors in English, so they will color each string.

What color is…?

The teacher will present different objects to the students, and each time they will answer the question: “What color is…? With this activity, the students will also learn new words.

Song: Colors

The students will practice the different colors with a song.

Homework

Practice the new expressions and the new vocabulary.
