Times square , named after the former location of the headquarters of the New York Times, is a neighborhood in the city of New York, located in the borough of Manhattan.

Centered on 42nd Street and Broadway, it includes the blocks between Sixth and Ninth Avenue from east to west, and between the 39th to 52nd street from south to north. It is the western part of the commercial area of Midtown. Dubbed “Crossroads of the world” , Times Square is one of the most famous and busiest places in the world.

Times Squares quickly became a cultural center, a place focused theaters, concert halls, music halls and trendy hotels.

The site quickly became the agora of New York, a place to seek or expect large gatherings or for World Series or a presidential election.

Times Square is a neighborhood in constant turmoil, at any time of day or night, which probably reflects the activity of the better New York , “ The city that never sleeps”.

Times Square is a microcosm inside the city, with it’s giant stores , and posters (billboards, illuminated signs or not ) excessive : advertisement for cars , for television series, where for theater become mythical played in neighboring Broadway theaters.

Each year, a portion of New Yorkers went to Times Square to celebrate the New Years Since 31December 1907 , the place is the scene of one ,the most important celebrations of the New year in the world in which a big ball of light (now a diameter of 3.7m) drops slowly from 23 to 59 h on a mast on the roof of one Times Square at midnight to ask pile.

I chose this theme because , during my holiday in August 2012 , I went to the United States for one month and I had the chance to visit Times Square.
