I am going to talk about the notion of space and eschanges. First of all i w ould like to give a shots definition of this notion;a space it may be a continuos area or expanse which is free ,or occupied unocuilable. An exchange is the act of giving one thing and receiving another in return. To illustrate this notion a will focus on the extchange between peoples in the big city N.Y and we can ask what are extchange havin in this city ?

The first document i have chosen is AUTOMAT is a painting by Edward Hopper. This painting represents a yong woman sitting alone drinking a cup of coffee in a cafe or restaurant. She looks despaires , self-conscions and slightly afraid unsed to being alone in a public plac. Behind her we can see a window it is dark and we can see the reflection of the light in the restaurante. There are three mains colours ,yellow ,white and black.

Now i am going to talk about my second document;it is the lyries of the song Tom'sDiner by Susanne Vega and the story take place in a diner in N.Y in the morning .

In this song Susane Vega ralate her morning in this bar ,she is alone and tell the persons whon she see as a man « topour the coffe » or a passer by who is looking at her reflection in the window and arronging he stochings. The singer remenbers her ex boy friend's vision. In this twoo documents we have a negative vision of the city.people feel lonely depressed. Au show loneliness evn in the big city.

however there are authors who expose a positive vision of the city as Adam Davidson in his film the Lunch Date in 1989. he show the meeting between two people,a woman and a black man in the cafetera of the Grand central station in N.Y. First meeting the woman have prejudiced against the black man but finally she change her vision and they become freind.
