The notion of the program that I have to introduce today is the notion of seats and forms of power, so what is power? The power is the ability to do something or act in a particular way, and also the capacity to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events. So In this case we can say that new technologies have the potential to accelerate a country's development. Besides, our problematic is how new technologies have empowered citizens?

So, first of all, it is impossible to talk about empowering people without talking about the fourth power, which is the power of the press. In fact more and more people seem to be influenced by what is written by media. In fact people are so interested that they find themselves empowered having lots of information.

Actually a lot of tools are easily available to citizens. Devices help people to access easily to information and to be interconnected with all the world. Steve Jobs was considered as god of new technologies and thanks to his innovation he changed all the world of technologies and created a community who idolize his brand. Steve jobs has marked the world when the IPhone appeared and also the Ipad. As the document « Empowered citizens » shows us, the woman is taking a picture with the IPad while the policemen were sculling down the street. However, one question arises: Why did manufactories put a photographic possibility into cell phones? Firstly to record dramatic events, secondly to propagate information rapidly and at last to record events that are happening as they occur. Moreover Google have also an important place in the world of technologies. Google is made by two students and they devised a new internet search engine capable of providing most of the information available worldwide to anyone with internet access. This company generates profit primarily from advertising and she is so popular that its name has become a verb meaning. Google is one of the internet’s long-term success stories.

Besides, social networks play an important role in the dissemination of the information. Social network means an online community of people with a common interest who use a Web site or other technologies to communicate with each other and share information, resources.

This social networks help people in order to get organized rapidly for example « the Occupy wall street» and also «the Arab spring». The Occupy wall street movement is a protest movement that began on September 2011 in New york City’s wall street financial district, under the slogan "we are the 99%" whichrefers to the socio-economic inequalities between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the American population.

Also social network like Facebook and Twitter had played an important role while the Arab spring, they served to mobilize and inform all people in the world about what happened in this countries in a immediate manner, How ? By using their smartphone. This engine and this social network helped also people to stir their anger and denounce the system.

There is also WikiLeaks, which is considered as an international online nonprofit media-organization founded by the Australian activist Julian Assange that has a huge number of classified, uncensored and highly sensitive documents from various anonymous new sources. It reveals all the secrets, all the truths, even if it is against the law.
