Manager:

Well, thank you for the invitation! I’m so glad to see that our association interests so many people! When we first started “Le Devoir d’Agir” I would have never thought that it would have such a big impact today. At this time, we only had a few people that came to our events, and it was mostly people that we knew. Today, the association is bigger than ever, with more and more volunteers and a larger audience. At each event we welcome new people, not counting the “ancient” that still come!

Manager:

This last event had three main goals. The first was to finance and to raise awareness towards the orphanage in Ghana. This project was born after that we saw that hundreds of children, in Ghana, are abandoned with no one taking care of them. We decided to create an orphanage for these children, that will be under our responsibility. This project has a cost of 20 000€, an amount that we are earning through events, donations and online collections. We plan on continuing to construct other floors, in order to welcome around 150 children. This project is very important to us!

Then, we wanted to bring an entertainment for the women, of course! Which is the objective for the event 100% women, like you said earlier, to bring the women closer in this little city.

Finally, we wanted to create a major event that would make our association more popular in Nantes, and even in cities around. This kind of event can only work if people come and the more the merrier, isn’t it? Also, with more people we can do more things and for the orphanage, for example, we wouldn’t have been able to collect that much money if we only were a few.

Manager:

Yes that’s right. We think that it’s important for women to entertainment themselves together and to  take care of themselves! A lot of the women that came are mothers or very occupied women, so they may no have the time to take a day off and it also allow them to meet new people.

Manager:

Thank you but we especially want to thanks the women of Nantes, they make our projects alive and make them possible. We think that’s very important to help others, especially people who desperately needs help.

Manager:

Yes, I’m a very organized person, and in order not to forget anything we have to write everything down. I was responsible for the event so I gathered the different teams to give the instructions for everyone to have their own task and everyone to know exactly what they are supposed to do.

Manager:

You are well informed! Well, the feedback is to allow the volunteers to give their opinion and their remarks about how the event went, if there was any problem or if they had any proposition in order to make the future events even better. It’s very important because without communication we can’t organize things properly.

Manager:

No, we didn’t have any security. We thought about it but the event wasn’t big enough and it’s a city where everyone pretty knows everyone so we would notice if something was wrong. Anyway, all the volunteers had to watch in order to pay attention.

Manager:

Well, we had a budget of 200€ for the whole event: 75% went to the reservation of the venue, 20% for the decoration and 5% for all the other costs. The financing came from all the donations that we collect.

We made a profit of 1 000€ thanks to the differents things: the activities proposed, the entry that cost 3€ per person, the reservation of the stands that cost 25€ per stand and the urn to collect money for the orphanage that we put in the hall.

Manager:

After each event we count the money that we made, then the treasurer, who’s elected by the members of the association keeps it and keeps track of it in a notebook. All the money that we earn in this event is used to help build an orphanage in Ghana.

Manager:

The stands were opened for the whole duration of the event so they didn’t have any schedule. At 2 pm was held a presentation of the association, explaining our different projects, our goals for the year and the long term.... Just after the presentation, our young volunteers sang songs of peace and about the importance of helping each other. Finally, at 4pm we could enjoy the parade.
