This image represents the human lungs but in the context of the video game named Pong. The goal of the game is to destroy the blocks (on this image the blocks are the components of the lungs) using the palette that is represented as a cigarette.

SYMBOLS AND IMAGERY is the technique used in this image because the lungs and the cigarette are represented as a video game, which makes us understand the message directly. This technique is very effective because it represents the phenomenon that occurs when people smoke. This helps to prevent and to make people think quickly.

SCARE TACTICS is also used. Indeed, this image uses fear to make people think. When there are no more blocks in the game, the game is over. This means that the cigarette will gradually destroy the lungs and then it will be death for the smoker, which should encourage smokers seeing this image to take action and stop smoking.

This image represents Barack Obama with writing below him "HOPE". This image represented him during his presidential campaign.

HERO NARRATIVE is used in this image. Obama seems heroic and someone we want to trust and follow.

SYMBOLS AND IMAGERY are used: the word "HOPE" is related to Obama's face when we look at this picture. It is a message that this person is a good person and that we can vote for her, she gives us hope.

The message is extremely simple and therefore very effective. There is no need to add more. Moreover, the choice of colours is very interesting: blue is the most loved colour of all and reassures us, red is strength, confidence, leadership and power. Unconsciously, these details make all the difference.[pic 3]

A poster showing a man with a woman. This man joined the submarine service and now looks very happy, positive and even accompanied by a woman.

HERO NARRATIVE is used: this man is happy, tall, handsome and has a beautiful woman in his arms. Who would not want that?

SYMBOLS AND IMAGERY are also used. Indeed, the phrase "He volunteered for SUBMARINE SERVICE" shows that by joining the submarine service, you too will get that.

This poster is very effective because it is very attractive. It can be tempting for someone to say, "Why not" or "Yes! I sign up now! "Since they will all have what they desire (work, love, beauty) very easily and quickly. However, who knows if that really happened?
