The notion that I'll talk about is : places and forms of power.
we'll see where and why this notion of power and superiority manifests is why I chose to be problematic : why are there some inequalities , social, among the men.
The first issue that I will address is the evolution of the situation of African Americans.
there 150 years , African Americans still had a status of slaves. With the civil war that took place between 1861 and 1865 , the people got the abolition of slavery, which would mean the end of segregation between black people and white but it was nothing. after the Civil War , attitudes had not changed and the white people still believed higher . Many people have fought against segregation , including Rosa Parks who became famous for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus , we can also include Nelson Mandela , who worked for the African- American cause denouncing segregation . He was arrested for that. Today , we can say that the mentality we evolved since Barack Obama was elected as the first black president of the United States in 2008 and was reelected in 2012.
I will now tell you about a document that is called The cabin of Uncle Tom . This document talks about a black man who is a slave to a white family . A drawing illustrates this situation. In this drawing , we can see Tom with his wife and son , we also see a young child who appears to be the son of the family that Tom works . This young man seems to be trying to learn the local language and Tom famillle . This shows the social inequalities between blacks and whites was the era of slavery since a child of 12 years is considered to be more intelligent than man who thirties, under the pretext that they did not same skin color .
We have seen that there are inequalities among men, as some believed themselves superior however, this situation has changed and nowadays, these inequalities appear only rarely to the point of becoming almost non-existent because attitudes have evolved over time
