L’Angleterre et l’Europe

1-Some informations

England covers 57% of the area of the island of Great Britain.England is the great economic centre of Great Britain.

2-The Europe

It is more history and politics and cultural aspects that have set the limits. The founding countries of the European Union are Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. These 6 countries founded the European  Community to pool their coal* and steel* industries.

These countries got along so well that they decided to create the European Economic Community*, their idea was to build a "common market".The EEC was created in 1952 and the UK joined in 1973.The European flag* was adopted by the EEC in 1985.

3-The evolution of the EEC

Over the years, more and more countries have joined the EEC. They have begun to collaborate in more and more areas*.That is why the EEC has decided to rename itself* the "European Union".

With the arrival of the EU, all the adoring* countries changed currency to have a single currency common to all, the euro, from 1999. Except the UK which keeps the pounds sterling and 2 to 3 other countries. Today there are 27 countries in Europe.

4-The Brexit

Brexit is the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union, and was initiated on 29 March 2017 by Article 50 of the Treaty* on European Union. The word Brexit is an English word built* on Britain + exit.

The British economy has had a small decline. For Brexit "fans", an exit from the EU is the only way for them to regain control of their destiny and full sovereignty. They want to control immigration and negotiate trade agreements*.

They considered that too many rules were imposed by Brussels and that what the EU was bringing to the United Kingdom did not compensate for what it had paid.
