Today I’m gonna introduce you to one of the most famous inventors and entrepreneurs of the 20th and 21st century: Sir James Dyson.

James Dyson is a British inventor, industrial designer and the founder of the Dyson company. He was born the 2nd of May 1947 in Cromer in England. From 1956 to 1965 he studied at the Gresham’s school. Then from 1965 to 1966 he spent one year at the Byam Shaw School of art before finally achieved his studies in 1970 after studying furniture and interior design at the Royal College of Art.

His main inventions are:

- The Ballbarrow, which is a modified version of a wheelbarrow that used a ball instead of a wheel. Thus it did not sink into the mud. We can resume his success by a formula which is called “Dyson’s magic formula”:

- His creativity is the result of all his previous failures. He knows how to get better.

- Then he analyzes the dissatisfaction from his mistakes. He systematically refuses facility and quick improvement.

- The design is also for him an important part of a product. He wants atypical colors, forms and materials for his products.

- He also never hesitates to put higher prices than his competitors. According to his strategy, the consumers made the difference between quality and level of price.

- Finally the way he creates the buzz is the last reason of his success. He always prefers rumors, the words of mouth than big and expensive advertising campaigns.
