Correction devoir ANGLAIS

I. Expression

This article is an extract from the NYT publisehed on 24 May 2008, It underlines the twists and turns of the chinese market as well as the opportunity to sell perfumes in this emerging market.

China is becoming a prospective marck targeted (cibler) by entrepreneurs of superflwous product such as perfumes – Even though perfume is not indespread in China, profits are one the rise and in vestors want to take a market further.

Yet, doing business there is not always easy. Regulations and ups and downs of custumer loyalty make the business insecure. Surprisingly enough, the Chinese are interest in luxury perfumes and ven though they are for behind other countries they represent a good profit for Western World perfumers. This products is new to the Chinese, so it will take time before they consider perfumers as a household product. The hardest task will be to have them registered and to comply with Chinese regulations.

To conclude, I would say that as soon as a country’s economy starts to boom, western companies tap this new market because everybody knows that to be the first on the market often means to be the leader.

II. Question

1.

• New market – high potentral – more money to ears

• No market in the world should be reglected

• 1,6 bn inhabitants. Even if there are not 1,6 bn potential customers, the purchasing power is increasing (so the market is interesting)

• Westerns wolrd market highly mature and glutted

• What’s more: crisis in Europe and the US.

➢ Less money to spend on superflowous products.

Conclusion: If the western market does not recover quickly form the crisis, the Chinese market might become a question of survival for luxury perfumers in the world.

2.

• A DREAM: We have the American dream and, the dream of westerns society with luxury products that everybody would like to possess

• In the 10980’s, Dior opened a store in Moscow. You could long queuing the perfumes sold like hot cakes even if it means more than one entire salary for most customers.

Many costumers decided to keep it!

This is the proof that perfume is a DREAM
