Malcolm X

  Malcolm X, born with the name «Malcolm Little» on may the 19th 1925 in Omaha and was dead in 1965 in Harlem. His father, Earl Little was a carpanter, he died in 1931 because of a tram which rolled on him little after Malcolm's birth. His mother, Louise Norton Little, was a homemaker occupied with the family, in 1939 she was placed in a mental hospital when malcolm was 30. He has in totality seven siblings and three half-siblings through his father.

  In his youth, Malcolm wanted to become a lawyer, but his teacher told him that was impossible because of his color. In 1943 he left Boston to move in New York for became a shoe shine boy in the Lindy Hop Nightclub. After he engaged in drug dealing, gambling, racketeering and robbery and was called “Detroit Red" because of the reddish hair he inherited from his maternal grandfather. In 1946, he was arrested in detroid for burglary and

carrying arms with 7 years of prison. In prison, he earned the nicknamed « satan » because of his hostility to religion, he began gradually to convert at the movement of the Nation of Islam with his brothers who were already members.

  After leaving prison, Malcolm met the leader of the Nation of Islam and is fully integrated. He changes his name “little” into X, to signify his lost african name, he also started to be monitored by the FBI. In 1955, a woman named Betty Sanders met Malcolm, joined the Nation of Islam, changed her name into “Betty X”, they married two years later and they had six daughters . Malcolm was selected to lead temple number 7 in Harlem, he also recruiting members and established temples in Springfield, Massachusets, Hartford, Connecticut and Atlanta, with this commitment for the organisation, Malcolm became the second leader of Nation of Islam.

  In 1964,  Malcolm leaves the Nation of Islam because of many events and founded his own organisations « The Muslim mosque inc » and the Organization of Afro-American Unity, to carry both a religious battle for Islam and a political struggle for blacks people, he changed his name again for “Malik El-Shabazz”.

  The tension beetween Malik and Nation of Islam increases and became a marked man, he survived at many attacks but on February 21 1965, he delivered a speech in Harlem and three men members of Nation of Islam shot him 21 gunshot and died.

        When Malcolm X died, His idea do not go away with him, they were taken by groups (Black Panthers) By population (soweto) and even by country.

Malcolm X was more than a defender of civils rights, he was a defender of HUMAN rights.

Aware of the picture that his enemy wanted to let him, He predicted his autobiography:

“After my dead, they will make me a racist... I'm not racist. I don't believe in any form of segregation. The concept of racisme is alien to me.”
