Helena Bonham Carter is an English actress. She was born on May 26th 1966 in Islington, London, England. Her film career is very long, she started in 1986 playing the title character in Lady Jane and continued with roles like Elizabeth Frankenstein in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein in 1994. She also played the witch Bellatrix Lestrange in the final four Harry Potter films, the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland or Queen Elizabeth in The King’s Speech, and a monkey in The Planet of Apes. She was in a relationship with Tim Burton, an American film director from 2001 to 2014.

Most of her roles were eccentric characters like Bellatrix, a paranoid person who takes an obvious pleasure in acts of torture and cruelty or The Red Queen, a very strict arrogant and pitiless queen always dressed in red. In the movie, she has red hair and red mouth both in the shape of a heart, a white face, a blue eye shadow that goes from her eyelid to her eyebrows : it’s a very singular makeup that represents her.

HBE is also known for her unconventional and eccentric sense of fashion. She has cited Vivienne Westwood and Marie Antoinette as her main style influences.

She received a lot of awards during her career, such as the 2010 International Emmy Award for Best Actress for her role as British author Enid Blyton in the TV film Enid (2009).

I think she embodies the true British icon because of her eccentricity in the way she dresses, in her roles, she can play any character brilliantly, from an animal to the most powerful woman of United Kingdom.
