Nowadays, and for thirty years now, humans have subjected their beloved Earth to collateral damage. For main causes : our way of living above our needs by overexploiting land and sea and our machines rejecting gases that pollute our air. For example, greenhouse gases that cause global warming and climate change. These climate changes are arguably the biggest challenge humanity has faced since its existence. Temperature increase, melting glaciers, rising water levels, increasing droughts, floods or tornadoes. Our climate is now engaged on a way that will be obligatorily to the greatest mass extinction or ever known : that of Homo-sapiens-sapiens.

In English class, I watched several times a video that explains in four minutes how our air was polluted and what happens to this air pollution. This video countains three parts that each address a theme : 1-the greenhouse gasses ; 2- the smog of air pollution ; 3- the toxics pollutants. The video begins with a female voice that explains what air pollution is, followed by the two issues of the documentary "What causes air pollution ? And what does it mean for our planet? ". In the background, the non-profit scientific and educational organization that published this documentary, National Geographic, has placed a tragic piano music that inspires a calm atmosphere in the viewer.  Then as the video, at the same time that the information flowing, the music accelerates and intensifies to demonstrate the urgency of the situation. The voice explains the causes of air pollution, and the urgency to act to save it, by stating all the consequences that pollution may have on our environment and ourselves as irritating our eyes and cause respiratory problems to the poeples who will breathe the ground level ozone which is a smog unhealty and bad for the planet. It is create by the mixture of the sun and nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds which are released from the exhaust, factory emissions, coal power plants, many cleaning solvents, paints or gasoline. We understand that we may be in a vicious circle when the video explains that air pollution intensifies the climate deregulation who generates temperatures rises in turn intensifies some of the air pollution. As for the images shown in the video, they are chained quickly and are showy concerning the subject. These are real images, things that can be seen in the street like an images of people with a mask to filter the polluted air in big cities.

The speaking speed of the person speaking is rather slow to explain the subject of global warming that is not always understood by everyone. She articulates a lot and highlights some important words. We understand from the text the point of view of the "author" on global warming: it is catastrophic, tragic, very dangerous and threatening but not irreversible. I think that the aim of this documentary is for each individual to make the population react and inform them about the future of our Earth. Luckily for us, the video ends on a list of solutions for limits toxic pollutes, smog and greenhouse gases. We can stop using as much fossils fuels by decreasing the use of gasoline with cars, manufacturing and electricity generation. If these solutions are well applied we can slow global warming, air pollution and thus delay our painful disappearance.
