September 11th, 2001,  attacks

I) Presentation

On Tuesday September 11th ,2001, there were four suicide attacks in the USA.

On this Tuesday morning, 19 terrorists highjacked four planes.

Two planes crashed on the twins towers of World Trade Center in Manhattan New York city. These two towers collapsed two hours later making thousands victims.

The third plane crashed on the Pentagon, in Washington DC. The Pentagon is a very important place for the Defense government.

A fourth airplane had to crash in Washington DC but it crashed near  Shanksville in  Pennsylvania after the passengers and airplane crews tried to stop the terrorists.

11th  September terrorist attacks are the most deadly ever happened.

2 977 peoples were killed, also the 19 terrorists . A memorial was  built at the twins towers'place.

These events have been seen in real time by millions of people on their TV and produced a considerable emotion in the world.

II) Bush reaction

The president of the USA, G Bush was in a school during these attacks.  After  that,  G. Bush stayed in his plane flying the sky for many hours. Then he tried to reassure the Americans with a first speech in the White House.

Nine days later, Thursday 20th September , the president of the USA gave the name of the group of terrorists :  Al-Qaïda with his leader Oussama Ben Laden.

The USA government and the one of many other governments immediately made the antiterrorist laws more effective.

For example, in the USA, the Patriot Act allows secret services to access personnal information of suspected  terrorists.

In October 2001, the USA declared war against Afghanistan and in March 2003 in Iraq. Ben Laden was killed in 2011 in Pakistan by USA army.

III) Plot theory

After terrorists attacks, all kinds of rumors were born to say that there were no terrorist attacks on the 11th September.

In fact, people said that attacks were prepared and wanted by the American government. It was a way to explain the American citizens the war in Afghanistan and  in Iraq

For example, people said that the towers destruction were caused by explosives.

Other people said that the government knew about the attacks but it did not do anything. Indeed, the American army could have stopped the terrorists plane but they haven't done it.  

Today there is no serious  evidence to affirm plot theory.

Every time there are attacks, we always wonder who is responsible and people make hypotheses. I think that there was no American plot. It was and will stay a tragedy for the USA. Only a grouping as Alkaida can act that way and kill so many people. They are wild people, fanaticized.

IV) Conclusion

With the  terrorists attacks in September 2001, the USA are now threatened.
