   PERSONAL STATEMENT

My desire to interact with people and understand their experiences and ideas actually stemmed from my early childhood exposures to people in my mother’s medical office. As I was growing up, my mother, dedicated physician, gave me the opportunity to see what she is doing as a doctor. I’ve watched her talking with the patients, stitching wounds, giving prescriptions. Her work fascinated me, i wanted to understand everything she was doing and why. I always had a million questions to ask, and this desire to learn more about people and medicine has only increased over the years.UMF Targu Mures is my unique choice mostly because i grew up with stories about being a student there, because my mother studied at the University of Targu Mures.

As years were passing on, I became more interested in human anatomy and healthcare. The human body is a very remarkable thing. Astrid Alauda once said "Your body is a temple, but only if you treat it as one". There is no truer fact in life, I appreciate this so much, I always do my best to look after myself and I want to be able to do the same for others.

At age fourteen, I left everything behind in Romania to start a new life with my parents and my older sister in France. It was not long before I realized that I was, in many ways, different from all the others in school. I have to admit that it was kida of hard for me to move here and study in a language i didn’t know. In the 9th grade, i had my first internship with the secretary of my mother’s and another family doctor. My job was to take care of patient’s files, to help Dr. Vigeannel Francis with his appointments, to update every information of the patients in their files and also the medical statistics in order to improve the administrational system.

I did the exactly same job during my third internship in a general medical office with Dr. Julie BEGE in January this year. This time, the patients were different to me, they shared their problems with me and i tried my best to help them how i could. Dr. Bege is my mother’s colleague, so the patients also talked to me about my mother, they told me that they are lucky to have her and the fact that she is listening to all their problems, helps them a lot. Those days helped me  understand that mental and physics are connected.

My second internship was in a laboratory medicine with Dr. Mihaela Bandac last year in June. I had the chance to develop my skills in using optical and electronic microscopes, comparing different sample of blood, and honestly I loved what I did, because I’m a really curious person by nature. I’ve chosen biology as my specialty for the baccalaureate, so everything I did with Dr. Bandac helped me a lot.

If one day I will have the opportunity to fulfill my dream to study medicine, I would seek to do my best in becoming a good student and a good doctor in the future. At this point of my life I’m really far from making my dream come true, I didn’t pass my final exam yet and I also have a poor knowledge in the medical field, but I’m really willing to learn and to my best, and I hope that the University of Targu Mures will give me the opportunity to become the best doctor that I could possibly be.
