MARTIN LUTHER KING JR

Martin Luther King Jr.,was born in Atlanta (Georgia) on January 15th, 1929 and he died murdered on April 4th, 1968 to Memphis ( Tennessee). It was an Afro-American Baptist minister, a non-violent an activist for the civil rights of the Blacks in the United States, for the peace and against the poverty.

MLK and the Afro-American movement of the civil rights contributed to the adoption in 1965 of the international Convention on the elimination of all the forms of racial discrimination, first international treaty on human rights since the Convention for the prevention and the repression of the crime of genocide in 1948.

He organizes and manages actions such as the boycott of Montgomery's buses to defend the voting right, the desegregation and the employment of ethnic minorities. He pronounces a famous speech on August 28th, 1963 in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington during the walking for the employment and the freedom: " I have a dream ".

He spoke more of 2500 times to help the people, he published 5 books and of numerous of articles. He was the youngest person to have received Nobel Peace Prize to have ended the racism by the protest nonviolent. Jimmy Carter, the president of the United States gave him Presedential Medal of Freedom in 1977, and a national holiday was organized in 1986 to remind the work which he made.

Today, about 50 years after his murder, many are those who continue to act in mind of the ideas of Martin Luther King who had declared: " an injustice committed somewhere is a threat for the justice all over the world. "
