Thème n°1 : Liverpool FC

INTRODUCTION

Let me introduce my subject which is Liverpool FC, and my question is a “Why is this club mythical?”

ARGUMENT / DEVELOPPEMENT

  • Liverpool FC is a professional football club based in Liverpool, in England. This club is created on June 3rd, 1892 by John Houlding, after eight years at the stadium, Everton relocated to Goodison Park in 1892 and Houlding founded Liverpool FC to play at Anfield. The new team, dressed in blue and white makes its debuts in the championship of Lancashire. The first manager of the club is John McKenna. The season 1884-1885 is marked by the first entry of the club in the championship of 1st division. With the arrival of the new manager, Tom Watson in 1896, colors change the blue and the white in the red and white colors. In 1901, Liverpool wins for the first time the championship of 1st division. Liverpool takes away the first championship according to war (1946-1947), the city was destroyed by the war. Liverpool enters the legend. The new manager Bill Shankly arrived in December, 1959. He decides that the players have to be everything of red dressed to impress the opponent. The club ends the first one of the second division and find the elite. In then, Liverpool, conquers numerous national titles : two titles of champion, the cup of England and three Community Shield. It is in 1973, that they win for the first time, the Europe Cup.

  • Anfield is the stadium of Liverpool, he is located in the district of Anfield, situated in the northwest of Liverpool in England. He is near the Stanley Park, a big city park, 45 hectares. In the nearby streets of the stadium, there are shops in the colors of the club. Anfield underwent has several occasions of the works to secure the stadium. The stadium was threatened to disappear in the early 2000s with the project of the Stanley Park Stadium. But, the economic crisis since 200/ and the purchase of the club by New England Sports Ventures in 2010 made that the project has was given up and that the new owners it are directed to a modernization of the current surrounding wall. The stadium has a capacity of 54 074 places. He consists of 4 forums : The Main Stand (with changing room), The Kop (with the museum), The Centenary Stand and The Anfield Road.
  • Liverpool gained 18 times the championship of England, 4 times the championship of 2nd division, 7 times the cup of England, 8 times the League Cup, 15 times the Community Shield, 5 times the Champion’s League, 3 times the League Europa, and 3 times the Supercup of the UEFA.
  • The supporters of Liverpool sing before every match the You’ll Never Walk Alone. This song was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein in 1945. It is from 1963 when the supporters of Liverpool sings it.
  • The club of Liverpool knew two dramas, the one of Heysel in 1985 and that of Hillsborough in 1989. The drama of the Heysel took place on may 29th, 1985, he was caused by the hooligans of Liverpool, there were 39 deaths and 454 wounded persons. The tragedy of Hillsboroug took place on April, 15th, 1989, 4 years after that of Heysel. There were 96 deaths and 766 wounded persons.
  • Liverpool had several symbolic players, during a vote made by the supporters of this club, Kenny Dalglish is elected as the player having the most marked the KOP, in front of Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and John Barnes

CONCLUSION

Liverpool FC became a mythical club thanks to the singing, thanks to the symbolic players who stood out the players of their passages in this club.

For me Liverpool is a mythical club because it is one of the best club the world.
