"What does the law say? You will not kill! How does she say it? By killing! "said Victor Hugo. The death penalty is a subject of debate that divides people all over the world. But we will focus on the United States and its very different relationship with other world powers. We will therefore ask ourselves how the world's leading economic power can continue to exercise the death penalty when a large part of the world's population is campaigning for its abolition everywhere in the world. In the first part, we will look at the ways in which supporters of the death penalty are convinced that this is a good thing, and then we will look at those who are doing their best to stop this legal massacre.

First, people who see the death penalty as a good thing are convinced that the death penalty is the "most effective" way to "do justice"; moreover, it is a deterrent because it deters others from committing serious crimes and at the same time helps to prevent the most dangerous criminals from re-offending. It can also be used to make, through threats, confess to crimes or at least gather more information from the accused.

Moreover, criminal trials are fallible, i. e. an innocent person can be convicted, but this will only be known after his conviction or just before he is executed, which will have serious consequences because he thought he would die in a few days or hours. Finally, life imprisonment is as dissuasive, if not more so, than the death penalty and is less expensive (the death penalty costs $308 million).

In conclusion, I would say that I personally am divided between these two opinions, as are a large majority of Americans, which means that the death penalty is still not abolished. In the near or distant future, will the death penalty be lifted?
