First of all Manchester is a city in North West England. In 2013 there were 514,417 people living there, which makes it the fifth largest city in the United Kingdom.

Manchester is a very important city in England, and is often called the "Capital of the North".It has many places for the arts, places for learning, businesses providing media and a lot of shops.

SPORTS :

Well-known for its world-famous football teams, Manchester has much more to offer in the sporting world. Starting with football, Manchester is home to famous Premier League Football teams which are manchester city and manchester united.

Manchester United are at home in Old Trafford, the largest club football stadium in the UK, while Manchester City occupy the recently expanded Etihad Stadium, which was originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. These two clubs are two of the richest and best-supported football clubs not only in England but in the entire world. As well as this, Manchester also has a number of lower league professional teams, including Rochdale, Oldham, Bury, Bolton, and Wigan. Manchester is also the home to many other well-known sports teams. There is also the Manchester Giants Basketball team which have reclaimed their place in the professional British Basketball League.Playing their home games at the Lucozade Powerleague Sportsdome opposite to Old Trafford, Manchester Giants offer the chance to catch professional basketball in the heart of Manchester.Another team to recently reform is the Manchester storm ice hockey team which was reformed in 2015 and play in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).There are also many other sports like Rugby, cricket boxing or cycling which are less popular but as important as football in manchester.To conclude, sport is a big part of the culture of the city and many of the people support or show interest in the sport.
