Interview with a young person who has participated

What were your motivations for studying abroad?

I went abroad to study with multiple motivations, even though some remain central. First of all, a thirst for discovery of the world by travels in order to forge my own opinion on topical subjects.

But I also wanted to meet people from all walks of life and multicultural immersion. Also after many years of unsuccessful studies of the English language in the French system, I chose immersion to make my learning possible.

How did you live your arrival?

The arrival in Finland was quite disconcerting for me, as this country was totally unknown to me. Nevertheless, I was able to benefit from a tutoring system proposed by the host university. This Finnish person helped me for my installation in my apartment and for me to discover the city.

Have you had trouble finding housing?

The accommodation was easy to find since 3 buildings were reserved for the Erasmus. The host university in a statement well before my departure advised me to book an apartment through this public agency. The whole procedure was done via the internet.

Did you manage to make friends easily?

This is the very positive point of Erasmus, the relations are established very easily and quickly, because we are open-minded people and have the objective to meet new people. It is essential to attend the common areas where the Erasmus and the locals live.
