Alcohol

WHY

Why people drink alcohol? There are different reasons why people choose to drink. It might be because they want to try it they’re curious, they could like the taste, it can help them to socialize more easily by relieving stress. They are also some reasons why they choose to abstain, it can be the religion, the sports, medical conditions or a family history of alcoholism.

EFFECTS

The alcohol’s most common effects are pleasure, inhibitions loosened, thinking skills impaired, generate heat, diseases and bodily damage: Cirrhosis of liver, brain function delirium tremens or even death. After you took too much alcohol you can feel the hangover, it happens after all alcohol has left body. There is no cure or shortcut for getting rid of hangover except time. The alcohol destroy the brain cells every time it is consumed and may cause a person to lose certain functions of the brain.

TEENS

 But why the alcohol has a stronger effect on teens than adults? First, because they have a smaller body weight, then a less psychological tolerance for teens like the stress and their liver are not effective like the liver of an adult.

LEVELS OF INTOXICATION

So now I’ll talk about the levels of intoxication:

0.2% You lose inhibitions; you do thing you wouldn’t do sober

0.3% Your senses are severely impaired. Slurred speech, staggering when walking

0.4% Pass out. Become unconscious but you look like you’re sleeping

0.5% Most of the time it’s the fatal dose. 

Alcohol is the cause of 45 thousand of death every year in France

ALCOHOLIC / SOCIAL DRINKER

An alcoholic is someone who cannot control their drinking at all or only for a short period of time.

When an alcoholic start drinking they will continue to drink until they run out of alcohol or they pass out

Most important reason alcoholics won’t admit they have a problem is that it means they won’t be able to continue to drink.

A Social Drinker is a person who can control their drinking.

They rarely if ever drink to excess.

TREATMENTS

Drugs The most common is Antabuse, it makes the person ill if they drink.

They can also use talking cures with psychologists trained counselors.

Or they can attend the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA): World-wide organization where alcoholics talk about what their drinking did to them and their families.
