Seats and forms of power

I am going to talk about the notion of locations and Forms of power. First of all I would like to give a definition of that notion. Power is a strength or force exerted or capable of being exerted, power is synonym of might. He can be exerted by Justice, the medias like televisions, radios High political authorities or by a whole country. Power is the ability to influence the behavior of people. In order to live together members of a community accept rules and laws. This helps to create social cohesion but can also lead to conflicts and tensions. Even when authority seems absolute, there are always counter-powers which question it, aim at limiting its excesses and resist it. I will focus on journalism and especially investigative journalism, Investigative journalism is a form of journalism in which reporters deeply investigate a single topic of interest, such as serious crimes, political corruption, or corporate wrong doing, they disclose hidden information, his uncovering hidden information he is like a guardian of liberty. In The USA the American press is often referred to as the FOURTH POWER, a counter power because it has the power to counterbalance the government. But today, newspapers are struggling to keep investigate journalists on their teams. Investigative journalism is under multiple pressures; decline of revenues, social media, fake news…

We will ask ourselves: Are we witnessing, as some people fear, the end of investigative journalism or can we be optimistic and trust that investigative journalism will evolve but not disappear?

I will start by the importance of investigative journalism. The Watergate scandal shows the importance of investigative journalists, thanks to two Washington Post journalists, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who have revealed to the court that an illegal operation was ordered by the President of the United States Richard Nixon men in possession of listening equipment are arrested in the Watergate building, near the offices of the Democrat Party (the opposing party). A commission of inquiry is created. The Commission concludes that President Nixon had attempted to eliminate certain tapes containing incriminating conversations. The President of the United States, Richard Nixon, resigned on August 8, 1974.These two journalists were able to fight against the abuse of power and the lies of President Nixon Daphne Caruana Galizia is a Maltese investigative journalist,. She ran a very popular blog in which she denounced corruption cases involving political leaders of the Mediterranean island, including Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, these charges even cause early elections, on October 16, 2017 she was killed in the explosion of his car, this murder was a target attack. These examples are evidence that investigative journalism can effectively harness abusive power disclose shameful actions, uncover corruption who can sometimes like in the example of Daphne badly turned and make them lose their lives

The investigative journalist seeks to reveal hidden information and to bring out the truth. To do this, he does extensive research, consults several sources, questions subject specialists or witnesses, sorts information, prioritizes them to discover new facts often the source of big scoops, this form of journalism is the most sacred because reveals a work that requires time and effort that can spread over several months, years of and he must be fearless because this form of journalism can be dangerous

Then, we talk about the investigative journalism under attack. The internet is “free”, this may be a reason why readers prefer the internet this is of great disadvantage for the media because newspaper revenues have fallen. Now the advertising revenues are moving on the internet this accentuates all the more to the decline in newspaper sales, so the media are weakening we can say that the internet has Nowadays social networks have taken a big place in our life, we have less tendency to read paper newspapers we prefer to do research on an event through Instagram or twitter but the problem is that the information on these social networks are in general without source and especially to modify compared to the real event, the difference between the social networks and the newspapers is that the information given in the newspapers are to approve and to check, controlled whereas on the internet everybody
