Demographics:

The Philippines' largest city is Quezon City, which contains 2,936,116 people. It forms a part of the wider Metropolitan Manila area, which is comprised of 17 cities and municipalities and has an overall population of 12.8 million people. To make things even more complicated, the entire Greater Manila urban area spills out beyond the boundaries of Metro Manila and is reported to contain around 22.7 million people, which is a quarter of the Philippines' entire population.

The population of the Philippines has been steadily growing for many years. It is the 12th most populated country in the world, between Mexico and Ethiopia, and grew at a rate of 1.72% between 2010 and 2015. The 2018 population is 106.51 million, according to the latest UN estimates.

Income Distribution & Standard of Living

The Philippine School System is similar to the American Schooling System but unlike America which stars school in August or September and ends in May or June, the Philippines starts school in June and ends in March. English is the main language of instruction although Filipino and other local dialects are used in the lower grades.
The total enrolment of students is 22.9 million in public schools and 4.8 million in private schools.

Health Care:

The health care system in the Philippines has undergone dramatic changes in the last 20 years as the government has instituted various reforms and policies to provide easy access to health benefits for every Filipino. The Department of Health (DoH) lists 1,071 licensed private hospitals, and 721 public hospitals. The Department takes care of 70 of the public hospitals while local government units and other state-run agencies manage the rest.

Today, the government continues to make progress towards developing a universal health care system to ensure that every Filipino will have easy access to every type of medical procedure. It is funded through subsidies and contributions from employers and employees.

In September 2017, Congress passed into law the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program, which aims to provide comprehensive health care and insurance for all Filipinos.

The UHC is expected to give citizens all health services they need—disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Culture, Religion & Work Ethic:

The culture of the Philippines comprises a blend of traditional Filipino and Spanish Catholic traditions, with influences from America and other parts of Asia. The Filipinos are family oriented and often religious with an appreciation for art, fashion, music and food.
