The term "American Dream" is used for the first time in 1931 by JamesTruslow Adams in

his book The Epic of America. She means access to fundamental freedoms and social

advancement by merit. The American dream thus takes a simple idea: every person living

in the UnitedStates may, by his courage, his work, his energy, his will to prosper or wealth.

This is the idea that we can succeed materially and therefore socially from scratch.

This dream of prosperity isinseparable from the American way of life, the American way of

life, based on democracy and the capitalist organization of society, but also on mass

consumption that takes many forms, leisure, objectseveryday life, dress codes,

information for individual comfort.

In other words, the American Dream is based on a materialistic ideal which sees in

possession of the goods (cars, houses, appliancesetc. . ) The key to the state of well

-being. With the American dream , happiness is first and foremost a material happiness .

If this idea was embodied by several persons or migrants income to investin their country

of origin, the American social reality has disillusioned many immigrants. This concept was,

however , still remains a major driver of emigration to the United States , one of thelargest

in the history of mankind.

It is important to understand that this dream is rooted in the history of the United States,

and he has traveled several centuries. The American Dream leads toseveral questions.
