Research Question or Business Problem

The influence of crowdfunding on the financial situation on the market of French board games companies

Justification (max 300 words): Why do you believe this is an important topic to study?

Entrepreneurs are increasingly turning to crowdfunding to raise capital for their new projects. As an alternative financial opportunity, crowdfunding can reach a large amount of people through the Internet, thanks to the platforms such as KickStarter, Ulule or Indiegogo, and raise enough money to fund small projects.

For creative content creators, this represents a unique opportunity to be able to pitch their ideas and to maybe guide it to true realization if the venture appeals to the vast public. In particular for board games companies, where the community craves for innovative content and is eager to support potential projects.

However, while this policy allows for greater diversity, it also enables small creators to directly reach their customers without needing the board game companies such as Phillibert or Meeple. Those companies are trying to keep with the flow by suggesting financing campaigns and recruiting the creators.

The idea of this topic is to research the impact of crowdfunding on the financial state of those companies. Did the campaigns they managed to successfully organize make up for the variety of smaller ones that got launched on their own and reinvigorated the market or not ?
