Two American brothers - Richard and Maurice McDonald - created the McDonald's first restaurant in the United States in California in 1937 (thirty seven). It was named “Airdrome”, it was a drive-in restaurant.

In 1940 (forty), they moved their “Airdrome” to San Bernardino, in California, and named it "McDonald's Restaurant". The menu was consisted of hamburgers but also pizza, chicken, and so on…

In 1948 (forty eight), they closed the restaurant to create a new type of restaurant only based on hamburgers with a self-service. It was the first one McDonald’s as we know.

But a few years later, their supplier of milk, Ray Kroc, was going to give a new dimension to their small firm.

Indeed, in 1955 (fifty five), Ray Kroc has an idea. He suggested to the brothers McDonald to develop their franchised network. A few years later, Ray Kroc acquired them the company. The businessman opened his McDonald's first restaurant to Des Plaines in Illinois and four years later he inaugurated his hundredth restaurant !

In 1965 (sixty five), McDonald's company launched a stock market.

In 1967 (sixty seven), the first one McDonald's outside the United States opened to Richmond in British Columbia, in Canada.

In 1979 (sixty nine), the first one McDonald’s in France was created in Strasbourg.
