Its progression is related to the evolution of the woman at the 20th century. Between 1890 and 1921, the women go their appearance in the sport because before 1914, it was strictly booked to the men.

In 1894, east creates in England the 1st association of female football and in 1920, some mixed matches are played but the federations of football then prohibit immediately these meetings because the images of the women still is very stereotyped.  In 1930, a match takes place between France and England in spite of the prohibition of the FFF. This match beat a record of attendance; it gathers more than 60,000 spectators. After this period of progression, the practice known female football is complicated. One of the largest stereotypes is than the women are inexperienced. The leaders of football set up in 1921, the “resolution 1921” which prohibits to the women the use of the stadiums. That stops immediately the rise of female football. Indeed between 1921 and 1955, female football is buried; it does not have there more financial means. Many people believe that it is the end…

But it is during the Seventies, that female football takes again walk and starts again to gain in importance. This time, it starts to equalize the level of the men. The FIFA organizes the world cup in 1991 and accepts the women with the Olympic Games in 1991. But female football yet is not very popularized through the media. The UEFA and the FIFA recognize officially women football in 1970; it was a great victory that made more than thirty years that they waited to have a legislative framework.

Today, female football is popularized through the media much more and there exist now hundreds of teams. But it is not yet equal to the men despite everything the efforts because there are still much more money and media around men football. The number of women still represents that 10% of the footballers in the world. But after as well of progress, one can think as the rise of female football will not stop there.

Intro

All the history of the sport built itself for and by the men. Since the 20th century, it was thought and organized to train the men in the manliness and the masculinity. Men and women are certainly different but these differences, among others morphological, are thought and incorporated as a natural inferiority, while it is about a cultural social construction feeding representations.
