For this theme I chose to talk about the film One Week which is a Canadian film by Michael MGowan realized in 2008

With principal actors Joshua Jackson, Liane Balaban, and Campbell Scott (narrator). The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2008 and was released theatrically on March 6, 2009.

Joshua Jackson plays Ben Tyler who lives in Toronto, Ontario. He is an English teacher in primary school. He is suddenly told that he has cancer evaluated between the fourth stage and the final stage. With only a 10% chance of survival and two years to live, the doctor recommends that he start treatment immediately, which will give him a better chance of survival. Instead of following the advice of his treating physician, he began traveling across Canada, across the prairies, from Toronto to Vancouver Island on a motorcycle. During his journey, he meets several people who will help him about his love relationship between him and his fiancée, Samantha (played by Liane Balaban), his work and his dream of becoming a writer.

It is a man who has the incomprehensible need to go on an adventure and experience real life experiences. During his journey, he becomes aware of certain things and finds answers to the questions that tormented him. One Week deals here with a darker question "What would we do if we had more than a week to live? ". The film takes us on a journey filled with beautiful scenery. The whole supported by an omnipresent band and rather not bad which sticks well to the situation and which manages, without difficulty, to transport us in a state of deep melancholy.

What is interesting in this film is the crazy optimism of the character, a condemned character who finally seems to live when death appears. The journey here is interpreted as a means of redemption. This film asks us a great reflection on ourselves, Ben fights all along the film with a certain lightness, he leaves far and alone, to enjoy the world, nature and loneliness to take stock of his life And finally discover what he did not know before ... live.

The journey here is the way for the character to escape, he comes out changed and stronger, ready to fight until the end. We can say that travel is an end to be able to evolve. Ben will pass from the schoolmaster to this man rebel in leather jacket driving a motorcycle. The motorcycle gives it a self-assured appearance, it rolls without a real destination but with one goal: to discover what life can still bring.
