The American nation was built up upon the spirit of Manifest Destiny .The first immigrants in this wild land ,the pilgrims fathers , were convinced that God sent them on this land to built a strong and pious nation , a “ city upon the hill” to achieve democracy and to guide all people into the right path .

This state of mind was deeply rooted in every American mind .Even though, America was handicapped by being deprived by a rich, diversified culture and centuries of political experimentation that allowed Europe to reach its position .Americans didn’t have time to experiment political models: they wanted to be great and achieve a democratic, economic and social prosperity rapidly.

They succeeded in fulfilling their dream in less than one century which is something never seen in the history of the old continent , Europe , before .By and by America was reaching up Europe, through hard working , strict politic and avoidance of intern conflicts , until it overtakes it thanks to the two world wars. Indeed the involvement of the United State of America in the First World War (1914-1918) was the first step in achieving the American hegemony. Latter on, its involvement in the Second World War (1939-1945), was the last step that ensured definitely the American supremacy.

1-The involvement of the USA in the first world war as the first step to American Hegemony:

A: Renouncement of the isolationist posture:

Despite the isolationism tradition in international affairs, the United States of America intervened in the First World War in 1917 .The more obvious reasons are the perpetual attacks of Germany towards the Americans ships by sinking them. But this intervention led Woodrow Wilson to put the USA at the top of international politic.

B: The fourteen points of Wilson:

After the First World War, Wilson proposed a chart of fourteen points aimed to settle an international moral order in order to avoid future conflicts. America takes the role of the leader which is the first attempt to fulfill American hegemony.

However, the great depression in 1929 devastated the American economy and made people lose faith in the government .People were feeling unsafe and this led the government to vote the Neutrality Acts in 1939.

2- Achievement of American supremacy through its involvement in the Second World War:

A: Lend-lease Acts replacing the Neutrality Acts:

After the success of The New deal that brought back optimism amongst American citizens , F.D Roosevelt convinced the parliament of the necessity to provide help to the Allies which were struggling against the “forces of devil” and led them to adopt the Lend-Lease act in march, 11, 1941 . He saw on it a golden chance to fulfill what Wilson started: the American hegemony. In 1944 Japan attacked the American military base, Pearl Harbor .As a result the USA decided to enter the war to destroy the totalitarian regimes that were a threat to democracy and the whole world.
