Indian castes have existed for 3000 years ago, they are divided into four great hereditary social classes/division of society

The Dalits or « Untouchables » correspond to the poorest caste in India, concidered like outcastes.

2.Inequalities among men and women

In the dowry tradition, the family gives a dowry to the future husband's family on marriage.

Dowry deaths when youg women commit suicide.

Sometimes, the woman is killed by setting on fire, which is known as « bride burning » and is disguised as an accident to avoid criminal charges and punishments.

There is a « gendercide » in India for girls. Gendercide= gender-selected abortions, female infanticide, dowry-related muders.

600000 girls go missing every years.

In 2011, it was estimated that there were 940 girls aged six under for every 1000 boys.

Soons financially more attractive than daughters, they help the family in the filds, it need not pay dowry.

Two child families encouraged by family planning, poor families can't afford two girls, they need boy to help them in the fields.
