I will speak about the evolution of the military aviation. I will present fighters according to each generation. I choose this subject because I want to become a fighter pilot, and the aviation it’s also my passion. But how the military aviation has evolved since the First World War 28 s

WW1

Fokker D.VII The Fokker D VII was build by the Fokker brand, a Dutch aircraft manufacturer. This airplane served as the preferred aircraft of the German forces. The majority of the airplanes were made from wooden and canvas, but the Fokker VII had a new technology, underneath the canvas was a solid light steel structure, which provided solidity to the airplane. 23s

WW2

ME 262 This airplane is known as the first operational jet-powered aircraft, created by Messerschmitt, a German aircraft manufacturer. The Me 262 was faster and more heavily armed than any Allied fighter. The innovation of this airplane inspired the designs of post-war aircrafts Mustang P-51 This is an single-seat fighter produced and designed by the North American Aviation brand. The design of the mustang included new features.the two principal were the laminar shape of the wings and the place at the back of the cooling to improve the aerodynamics.

FIRST GENERATION (POST WW2)

F-86 Sabre The F-86 was a success during the war of Korea, this aircraft was used all around the world (30 countries used this invention). The north American airplane was constantly compared to the MiG-15, its Soviet opponent.

SECOND GENERATION

Mirage III A The Mirage III A was a jet-fighter produced by a French manufacturer called Dassault. As the French Air Force didn’t had ressources to finance different airplanes, the mirage was an multi-role aircraft with a structure that could be modified for each mission.

THIRD GENERATION

F-4 Phantom II F-4 Phantom II is an two-seat, twin engine, supersonic jet interceptor and fighterbomber developed by Mcdonnell Aircraft for the United States. Proving its highly adaptability and many qualities the F-4 was very important in XX century, it is also the most produced American jet-fighter. The Innovations of the Phantom were the pulse-Doppler radar and the extensive use of titanium. An other advantage was the speed, the F-4 could reach mach 2,3. On 2022, after 64 years of it first flight it still in service. One of the most famous pilots in the F-4 was Robin Olds.

FOURTH GENERATION F-14 Tomcat The F-14 is an two seat, two engine, supersonic, multi-role jet-fighter produced by Grumman in the United States. The Tomcats were used during the Iran-Iraq War by the Iraniens, and during the end of the Vietnam War. The F-14 can shoot in 6 different targets at the same time. This aircraft is famous because it was the principal airplane in the movie Top Gun. The objective of the creation of the F-14 was to replace the Phantom F-4. Rafale The Rafale is a supersonic, multi-role, two or one seat, double engine jet-fighter produced by Dassault. It is actually the principal French jet-fighter. Also, the rafale have three versions M, B and C. It is the plane at the present time with one’s of the bests compromises.
