You're content to be materialistic

You are suspicious of fads and snobbery, and you think that the trend for getting back to basics could be one of them. You find people who describe themselves as spiritual rather suspect, too. You see cultures that eschew material possessions as depriving themselves of the food of life. You admit that our society can be excessive and that we make mistakes. You know that we abuse the privileges we enjoy, that we sometimes feel lost and that things can get out of control, but you are suspicious of those who suggest we turn back the clock. You think it would be just as absurd and damaging to give everything up as to slowly give in to excess. Living is, after all, about growing richer, whatever form that might take. It’s not all about profound thoughts and spirituality. Eating well, nice possessions, wearing beautiful clothes — these are all important to you. Desire and pleasure are firmly rooted in the material world, and that’s no bad thing. This is why you don’t mind being described as materialistic. Our advice: Among the things in your favour are clarity of thought, a good critical sense and courage, and you don’t just follow the crowd when it comes to what to think or what to do. But you’re not immune to material desires, you won’t always be strong enough to ignore the countless demands on your time. Remember to have a clear-out now and again, and to meditate: being able to enjoy something without needing to possess it is very important in life.
