Born the 7th August 1975 in Benoni, South Africa, Charlize Theron is now a famous actress. Her father, Charles, were French and her mother, Gerda, were German. She grew up in her parent's farm, in a '' mines city '' where her family owned a firm about roadbuilding. She speaks Dutch, which is her first language, but she speaks currently English and Xhosa, that she learned when she was a kid, with the employees of her parents.

She started practising dance when she was only six, and was sent to the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg when she was twelve. This sport was her passion, and her mother supported her from the start. But everything didn't work that well, cause her father began to drink and being abusive toward his wife at the same time. One day, after Charlize came back to school, her mother shot her husband who were violent once again. There wouldn't be any prosecution.

She became a model at 16, after winning a contest twice. One time in her homeland, and the other in Italy. After that, she moved to Milan with her mother (who'll returned to South America for her own business) when she really started her model career, and then travelled into Europe for her job.

After one year into her model profession, she decided to give all her time to dance. But she hurts her knee after eight months and needs to quit for ever. Pushing by her mother, she moved to USA, with the idea of becoming an actress.

She then moved to Miami for a few months. Her beginnings are difficult, and no agent seems interested by her talents. Charlize went to the bank to cash five-hundred dollars check that her mother sent her, but the cashier refused the encashment. Charlize loses patience and insults the cashier and the bank customers. She then was approached by a man visibly impressed by her « perfomance » in there. He tells her he could help with her acting career. This man was John Crosby, a discoverer of talents. He sends the ambitious Charlize to acting classes, mostly to erase her very strong Afrikaans accent.

A few months after starting the acting classes, Charlize started on screen. She has no line of dialogue and appeared only a few seconds, but other opportunities arise. She accepts a rôle in a pilot for a series but it will not be retained.

Meanwhile, Charlize Theron creates a reputation as a rising star in Hollywood, through her participation in ads for Axe and Martini.

In 2004, when she received an Oscar, Charlize Theron made a triumphant return to South Africa where she was welcomed as a national hero. Then, she was received by the South African President Nelson Mandela.

And without her immigration, she wouldn't be here today.
