2008 was the year of change in the united states. For the first time for the history of the country , a black president was elected. What a symbol , what a slap for a country that has experienced segregation and slavery. Barack Obama has brought a new breath , a hope for the realization of the American dream.
Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii in Onolulu on Auguste 4th ,1961. His mother , Stanley Ann Dunham, was a white American from Whichita, Kansas his father was black, was from Alego , Kenya. In 1963 , his parents divorced and his father returned to Kenya . His father wrote to him regulary but , trought he traveled around the world on official business for Kenya, he dies in a car accident in 1982. His mother will go to Jakarta, in Indonesia, together in 1966. In 1971, he his sent back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents on his mother’s side. He excelled in basketball and graduated white academic honors in 1979. In 1981, he studied in Colombia University in New York, but found New York’s racial tension inescapable so he become a community organizer for a small Chicago church-based group for trhee years , helping poor south side resident cope with a wave of plant closing.In 1989, he attended Harvard Law School located in Boston and become the first Afro-American editor of the Harvard Law review . As on of the only three black students at the school, he is conscious of racism and what it meant to be Afro American.
He also began to teach at the University on Chicago Law School. In 1992, he married Michelle LaVaugh Robison in Chicago, they had two girls , named Malia and Sadha.
In 2004, he as elected to the US Senate as a democrat, representing Illinois, and he gained national convention in boston. In 2008 he ran for President, and despite having only four years of national politique experience , he won .In january 2009, he was elected as the 44th President of the United States, and the first Afro-American ever elected to that position. He was re-elected to a second term in November 2012.
Among his most popular laws , we can find the law that autorizes gays marriages in 2015 . In 2009 he takesoff the word « negro » in all federal laws.
After the presidency he published with his wife two books of memoirs . He has also created the Obama Foudation , the mission is to inspire, empower, and connect people to change their world. That mission begins at home, on the South Side of Chicago, where he is building the Obama Presidential Center. he hold leadership training sessions in communities throughout the U.S., bringing local leaders together in countries around the world, working to support the global education of girls, or ensuring young men of color have pathways to opportunity.
To conclude we chose this man because he defends a lot of values thanks to his openness ,Barack Obama shares ideas of tolerance , He has illustrated on topics such as abortion or access to health care. Above all, he promulgated a historic law allowing homosexuals to serve in the army
