Fashion Week : Why models are sulking at the catwalk ?

We all have already watched an extract from a fashion show. The first thing who call to mind people is the coldness of faces of models when they’re walking. Behind all of that luxury and these sumptuous clothing, models seem to be out of humour.

Why ? This trend is arrived from japanese designers. Indeed, models have began to have an attitude increasingly uniform and inexpressive. Designers explain that the attention must be focus on their clothing creation and not on faces of models. That’s why we stick that image of models who are a « coat rack ».

The technique of models is to lower (just a little) the head to have a killer expression in the eyes for erases any expressions on face. But the most important thing is to never smiling to have an haughty appareance and break away from the ordinary world. Some models even say it would be weird if they would do it. A eighteen years old modal said “When I file/parade, I tried to thing about sad moments in my life. It’s the best trick!”  No one ask the models to smile because it’s something normal in this environment.

Before this trend, how models were ?

In the 60s, models looked more joyful than nowadays. Indeed, models could dancing, smiling whithout any problems. Models had a strong personalty like Linda Evangelista or Naomi Campbell who have marked the world of fashion by their beauties and their presence on podium all around the world.

Some fashion show escape the rule for example Victoire Secret where models show their emotions/expressions and that make the show full of life. I think it’s pretty cool to have different aspects from a fashion show because that allows people to have different opinions about models         and not only for see them like a coat rack.
