Introduction:

First, we cannot talk about raggeton without say what is Raggae and dancehall. Because reggaeton is a mixture of this two musical style.

So, the reggae in few sentences. The must important ideas of this style it was born in Jamaïca during the sixties. Thanks to this music the singer can explain Rastafarian ideas. It derives from Jamaican music such as the Ska and the Rocksteady but has its roots in traditional Caribbean music and African music imported into Jamaica by slaves.  

And the Dancehall is Reggae style making extensive use of technology that peaked in the eighties and refused to disappear. Considered by many as a return to simple pleasure after a decade of piety and roots culture. The dancehall hymn "Under Mi Sleng Teng" is acknowledged to be the first reggae recording devoid of a bass line to achieve success.

I)History:

What’s reggaetón? reggaetón is a music derived from reggae. First, it was call the Spanish reggae because it was in Spanish. But what’s the history, origin of this music.

Reggaetón was created during the migration of Jamaicans to Panama for the construction of the Panama canal. When they arrived in Panama, they will quickly integrate and influencing musical tastes and very soon the Reggae became the most popular song in Panama. But It’s only in 1970 that Spanish reggae saw the day.  

In 1990, Spanish reggae touched the United States because few popular panamas artist produced Spanish reggae in New York and other big country.
After, the biggest producer of Spanish reggae turn the name into reggaetón. He changed a little bit of the style of the Spanish reggae. In fact, for him the reggaetón was mixture of several styles like Jamaicans reggae and Dancehall.
Plus, he used the suffix -ton to give more importance to the word reggae. So, Reggae was like the biggest reggae.

In conclusion, the reggaetón represent the mixture of two cultures:  Jamaican and Panamanian. So, we can interpret this musical style like a symbol of peace and cohabitation.

II) Evolution of Reggaetón

The reggaetón attracts a large public. Thanks to the talk about everyday life but also thanks to rap and hip hop introduced during his arrival in America.

Moreover, reggaetón expresses the suffering of a people in rebellion against the State but also denounces injustices and poverty or even problems encountered in everyday life.

III)Main artists:

A major reggaetón artist is Daddy Yankee. He started his career in 2004 and he became the biggest reggaetón artist. His must popular song is La Despedida, it talk about love has the major party of reggaeton'music, it's a currently theme, because every one can identify itself. ¼ of he's song is a mixture of english and spanish, has we can say in franch “spanglish”. The reggaton touch specificly the south American population.
