Street Art

I Origins

His name is Eduardo Kobra.

He is born the 1er January 1976in Clear Field . He grew up on the outskirts of Sao Paulo, so he is Brazilian.

II Beginings

At 11 years old he draw all the time. He discovers graffiti and the hip-hop culture at 15 years old. So he starts doing graffiti and tags with this friends. But he was arrest a lot of times for vandalism. He did join a break dance group very famous in Sao Paulo, where he discover the hip-hop univers. He create his own studio in 1995 Studio Kobra thanks to this he can paint with authorizations now.

III Studies

He hates school. He is passionate about graffiti he reads a lot’s of book and movies about it.

He does some banking studies and he found a little job. He do research on art in parallel. After he stop all for do what he loves, art.

IV Type of work

His artistic work is a mixture of tags, realism and paintings, he work on 3D painting and graphism for a great realist job. He use the tag tendance, american graffitis of mexicans muralists and geometric graphics. As a result , they first work is accurate and ultra-realistic reproductions of old photgraphs in black and white, where he add sparkling colors on walls of more than 1000 square meters. Kobra likes the contrast between different historic times: the cars, the clothes, the behaviors. His work is a combination of various techniques including painting with a mix of brushes, airbrush and aerosol cans. These different approaches are determined by the size of walls and buildings that he works on. In his practice, Kobra combines geometric shapes like circles, triangles, and squares in multicolored backgrounds and embroiled shading and swirling effects to achieve a sense of photorealism often with an emphasis on  imagery that requires a high level of technical prowess 

V Famous

   

He became famous thanks to the painting of the JO in 2016 who is the biggest “fresco” in the world.190 meters large and 15 meters high (and it takes 40 days for do it). une surface de 3000 m2,         We are going to present it after.

VI Messages

In they work, he represents historical figures to revive the memories of the city where he create they works, for example he use the wall of times square in New york to celebrate a historical event, and here it’s the victory of united states over japan and it became the symbol of victory and love with the photograph of an American marine kissing his companion. Other portraits of historical figures like nelson Mandela or David Bowie were made, to symbolise peace in the world. He denounce also inequalities in Brazil and the word. He fight against climate change and wars.

His goal: to transform the urban landscape through art and revive memories of the city.

VII critics

Some one thinks “graphic portrait-decomposition” process is tired. Too much of everything, too much sophistication, too much “flashy” colour. Abundance of “effects” affects the message. Colours and shapes are very simple to be original. But the critics of his work are infrequent.

He had a real hard starting after he left his job, he lives years in poberty.
