                                          Voyage and return story

I will present the voyage and return story literary genre, The essence of the Voyage and Return story is that its hero or heroine travel out of the familiar, everyday 'normal' surroundings into another world completely cut off from the first, where everything seems abnormal.

The question that we will ask ourselves is what can be the aim of a voyage and return story ?

To answer to this I will present 3 documents that each illustrates aims of the voyage and return story genre.

The first document is a text untitled ‘‘hullo, Robinson Crusoe’’, in this text a mother and a daughter are acting as they were Robinson Crusoe for the daughter and man Friday for the mother. They are playing the role of the characters of the famous novel Robinson Crusoe written in 1719 by Daniel Defoe.  What is interesting about this text is that it shows the impact and influence of the novel Robinson Crusoe .indeed the mother and the daughter are having fun playing the role of these characters.

We can say that one of the aims of this literary genre is to delight and entertain the reader.

The second document is a text untitled ‘’A Perpetual Summer ‘’ in this text we follow three young boys who have been stranded on a desert island.

The three boys are living by themselves on the nature they are helped by an benevolent nature , indeed we can see this because line 16 it says that the climate was beautiful  and it seemed to be a perpetual summer and it says that there where many fruits.

The boys are living in harmony with the nature line sixty they are compared to sharks as if they became a part of this nature. They found different ways to survive indeed they created spears as we can see in line twenty (20) they also created their own clothes it say so line twenty five (25).

This text is an example of an utopia indeed the boys seems to live in a paradise  where everything is beautiful and the title imply a fantasy world where the summer never end.

We can say that this text is a voyage and return story that aim at make the readers escape in a fantasy world.

The third and last document is a text untitled ‘’who thinks there may be a ghost’’   in this text we follow a group of children who are castaway on a desert island with no adults.

In this text the children are arguing about the existence or no of a ghost on the island, because of this they decide to form an assembly where everyone will be able to express thanks to a c a baton that allow the one who hold it to speak.

But the assembly do not work and the children start to fight and insult each other we can see this line twenty nine (29) , thirty five(35) ,.

This document show that without order it is the anarchy this an example to warn people against the wrongdoing and misconduct leading to failure.

I Will present my complementary document that is a summary of the novel Alice in Wonderland  , I choose this document because I wanted to show a different kind of voyage and return stories that we studied.

Bored and drowsy on a hot summer's day, a little Victorian girl suddenly finds herself transported underground into a totally strange 'wonderland'.
