Léa NABONNE                                WHAT IS SOCIAL INEQUALITY                                        NRC 1

In this text, I will talking about social inequalities. In the first part I will talking about the causes of social inequalities, in the second part, I will talking about the consequences, and then, I will talking about the solutions of social inequalities.

There is lot of causes of social inequalities but some more than other. For example, the politics can be a cause of the social inequality. Indeed, as we saw, between 1948 and 1994, in South Africa, apartheid was present. At this time, white people were privileged compared to blacks’ people. In addition, we can talk about education. During long time, women and blacks people do not had access to education or vote. Furthermore, we can talk about wealth inequalities. Indeed, this phenomenon create an imbalance between ethnic, gender, or just people.

Now, let talk about consequences of social inequalities. All of causes of social inequalities leads to social unrest like violence, wars, bad health, illiterates, prostitution, drugs traffic, human trafficking, … . Indeed, historical events such as apartheid or slavery leaves a resentment on the part of people who were victims of discrimination. In addition, a gap of between affluent people and pauper people can beget low self-esteem; low self-confidence and they can have a sense of personal failure. Often, people in precariousness are people who are responsible for unrest, or people who have dropped out of school.

Finally, I will talk about the solutions of social inequalities. In the world, there is many countries do not apply human rights like South Asia, South America or South Africa. Indeed, in these countries, inequalities between genders or between affluent and pauper, are maintained and deepen. Therefore, there are several ways to fight social inequalities like to allow access for at heath, education, internet, accommodation, water, food, jobs, for all who wants. For example, we can establish equal wages between sexes or we can establish free access to education like France.

To conclude, inequalities have been present for centuries and still exist today in some countries more than others under different forms exist. Maybe we can fight this phenomenon if we can change our mindset. We ca become supportive between us (humans) with generosity and compassion for example.
